Training Sessions - Winter
On Mondays NEWT meet at Newport Stadium at 6:45pm On Tuesdays we meet at the Civic Centre, Newport at 6:30pm - 6:45pm. The following are the planned sessions: |
February is hills month; hills, hills & more hills!As part of the build up to spring marathons, half marathons & 10ks, our training focus turns to hills to develop strength & stamina. In addition, weekly track sessions run by Newport & East Wales Triathlon (NEWT) are available to joint members. All Lliswerry Runners are welcome to sample a couple of sessions before upgrading to Joint membership. Week 1 Sat 28th - Newport parkrun - 9am @ Tredegar House Sun 29th - Long Slow Run - 9am @ Sainsbury’s, Newport Mon 30th- Track Session with NEWT @ Newport Stadium (6:45pm) Tues 31st - Caerleon Cruise Weds 1st - Intervals – 6:30pm @ Newport Stadium Tennis Centre
Week 2Sat 4th - Newport parkrun - 9:am @ Tredegar House Sun 5th - Long Slow Run - 9am @ Sainsbury’s or LCL XC Suggested Route (a 16 mile route made up of familiar runs up the canal & to Caerleon which can be easily cut short or lengthened) Mon 6th - Track Session with NEWT @ Newport Stadium (6:45pm) Tues 7th - High Cross Horror (standard way) Weds 8th - Intervals – 6:30pm @Newport Stadium Tennis Centre
Week 3Sat 11th - Newport parkrun - 9:am @ Tredegar House Sun 12th- Long Slow Run - 9am @ Sainsbury’s, Newport Suggested Route (A 17 Mile run through Caerleon to Newbridge on Usk & Bulmore which can be easily shortened by doubling back to Caerleon or lengthened.) Mon 13th -Track Session with NEWT @ Newport Stadium (6:45pm) Tues 14th - Stockbroker Belt (A tour of the posher parts of Newport)
Week 4Sat 18th - Newport parkrun - 9:am @ Tredegar House Sun 19th - Long Slow Run - 9am @ Sainsbury’s Suggested Route: Pancake flat 18 Miler. Easy to shorten or increase. Mon 20th - Track Session with NEWT @ Newport Stadium (6:45pm) Tues 21st - Out 25min & Back (start 6:45pm),
Week 5Sat 25th - Newport parkrun - 9:am @ Tredegar House Sun 26th - Long Slow Run - 9am @ Sainsbury’s, Newport or Cross Country LCL Mon 27th - Track Session with NEWT @ Newport Stadium (6:45pm) Tues 28th - Greyhound Run route in reverse (up/down St Julian's Rd)High Cross Horror (standard way) Weds 29th - Intervals – 6:30pm @ Newport Stadium Tennis Centre
