I am hoping to raise as much as I can for the ‘Cutting Edge Appeal’, that aims to provide the most up-to-date IMRT radiotherapy treatment for people with head and neck cancers. The IMRT attacks the tumour in a more targeted way and minimises the side effects. Within the past 12 months, I suffered from throat cancer and while the treatment I received at Velindre saved my life, the side effects were horrible. This new IMRT treatment was not available to me because of the cost. Following my recovery, I was lucky enough to gain an entry to the London Marathon and I have decided to dedicate my run to this appeal.
