"I like running, but I'm too slow for a running club"
"Running clubs are for good runners. I wouldn't be able to keep up"
"There will be no one running at my speed"
This is a normal reaction to the suggestion to join a running club but it's WRONG!
Many of our beginners have commented that they would have joined long before if they had realised how friendly a running club could be.
We give the help ...you do the rest!
We have teamed up with Newport City Council to give EVERYONE a chance to start running.
Our weekly sessions on Wednesdays often have over 25 people, ladies, men, all ages and abilities running short distances (repetitions) with rests in between.
New starters are put into small groups with people of the same ability.
There's always one group of absolute beginners, ususally looked after by "Mr Smilie" himself Ron who, at the age of 70+ will keep you entertained with tales and running memories.
As you become more confident you can move yourself up the groups.
