When and Where We Meet
Printable Version   Printable Version
Tuesday - Medium Pace Training Run

Summertime meeting place is 14 Locks Car Park, High Cross (Park your car on or near Brunel Avenue (NP10 0DN) as Car Park closes early)

Beginners/Improvers (with Yvonne): meet at 6:30, depart at 6:45pm

Faster Group (with Chris & Paul) met at 6:45pm, depart at 7:00pm

Wednesday - Interval Training

Meet at the Tennis Centre in Newport International Sports Village, Spytty Park at 6:30pm.

These are organised training sessions. Everyone trains together.

"Intervals" are short runs at faster than normal pace with rest/recovery periods in between. They help improve speed and strength

In Summer we do intervals on the track, on grass and off road.

In Winter we use Stephenson Road (Lliswerry Side of Transporter Bridge) which is flat & well lit. Also some "favourite" safe/well lit hills.

Good fun, lots of banter and a little bit of pain!

Sunday - Long Slow Run (Conversational Pace)

If not a race day then this is easy run day.
Two groups meet up:

Beginners/Improvers (with Ron):
Meet at 9:30am. Various start points & a variety of scenic & now legendary routes such as:
Smiley Dog
Polly Morgan Lane
Ochrwyth
Ynys Hywell

Faster Group(with Chris & Paul):
Meet at 9am in Sainsbury's car park, Wyndham St, Newport. NOTE: There are now parking limits in Sainsburys car park therfore park in Pugsley Street. Turn left immediately before Sainsburys entrance and follow the road around to park adjacent to the car park.
We have a range of routes and distances depending on what we are training for.
All are quite scenic & keep away from busy roads e.g. using the canal towpath
