Cerianne Jenkins

Probably Road, with a mix of XC and trail for fun!
How did you start running?: 
I started mainly as a way to de-stress and to get outside in the fresh air for some Me time. Someone told me about parkrun Newport - a FREE timed 5K every week! I was hooked from the first Saturday I turned up there alone! It switched on my competitive side, me against the clock. Running with people encouraged me to stick at it, I would have probably given up running as another fad by the time winter came along - but instead I got the running bug! and the the friendly Lliswerrians introduced me to a whole new world!
Any message to newcomers?: 
The best thing to do is speak to club members at parkrun - there is always a few about every Saturday! Once you know one or two friendly faces, they will take you under their wing. Try a few training sessions during the week - no obligation to join straight away. There is no pressure to do any racing if thats not your thing. Just run for fun! Try a few different clubs before you decide - I went along to two other clubs that are more local to my home and still felt that Lliswerry was the best for me and I have never regretted that decision!

How did you start running?: 
Woke up one morning and had an urge to go for a run. Downloaded the couch to 5K app on my phone and off I went. Got hooked straight away and haven't looked back. Once I built up to the 5K I looked on the Internet for a local running club and joined Lliswerry Runners in Oct 2013
Any message to newcomers?: 
Lliswerry Runners are suitable for all abilities. Everyone is welcome and supported. We all share the same love of running and help each other out. It's a family.

How did you start running?: 
<p>Turning 40 and had my girls I thought I would start to get my life back. I couldn&#39;t run up the road without stopping. I was more of a brisk walker. So thought if I signed up for a half marathon I would have to start learning to run. I went from nothing. I joined lliswerry running group. It was the best thing I have done. I have now done 3 half marathons, 5 10ks, Rack Raid. Rose inn relays. I am so proud of what I have achieved. Thank you lliswerry.</p>

Anything really - quite like running uphill, no idea why!
How did you start running?: 
<p>Turned 40, wanted to lose weight and gain some level of fitness before the inevitable heart attack arrived. I started jogging around the streets, Park Run came soon after closely followed by joining this club.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>1. Join the club, you are already fast enough (guaranteed), its brilliant for beginners and you will improve so much quicker than just jogging by yourself. 2. Don&#39;t try to do too much too soon, listen to your body.</p>

How did you start running?: 
To join the police you had to run 1.5m in 13 mins so started around 1985. never joined a club until around 5 yrs ago (san Dom)
Any message to newcomers?: 
I keep a running log, have race times and run routes going back years, Travel the world and run! And get get a dog as a running partner.

How did you start running?: 
My son joined Newport Harriers in 1994 and I started running while he trained. Within weeks I was training seriously and a member of Newport too.
Any message to newcomers?: 
Probably the hardest thing you'll do is coming to a club session first time. After that you'll find all the company, inspiration and support you need to achieve whatever you aim for.

Tarmac - definitely tarmac!
How did you start running?: 
<p>I had a bit of a health scare a few years ago and ended up in hospital. I was overweight, eating the wrong things and spending too long doing nothing! So I decided I had to change. bit by bit, I started running and I&#39;ll always remember how painful that first ever ParkRun was... but I stuck with it and look where I&#39;ve got to!</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>Try it... Don&#39;t worry about whether you&#39;re &#39;good&#39; or not.. everyone started the same way with one foot in front of the other...Who knows how far you will end up going... and there&#39;s no one more supportive than a Lliswerry Runner beside you!</p>

Sarah Lou Francis

How did you start running?: 
I was always a bit of a gym bunny until Juliet Sidney introduced me to parkrun, within the year I'd ran my first half marathon. Then a few years later, after the start of Newport parkrun Juliet & Neil introduced me to this lovely club.
Any message to newcomers?: 
It really is a club for all abilities and interests. Whether you just want to improve your fitness, compete in competitions or run an ultra, there will be support and friendship for you in all areas.

I needed to lose some weight for my upcoming wedding in 2013 so started running. 3 stone later and here I am running for Lliswerry!
Any message to newcomers?: 
I hesitated for 12 months over joining a club and can honestly say I regret not joining sooner. From my 1st training session I was made to feel like part of the Lliswerry family. Don't hesitate, join!
